Social-ecological Systems

This master's seminar explores the dynamics of urban social-ecological systems, fostering critical thinking and environmental stewardship through interdisciplinarity. Students engage with key topics such as adaptive cycles, governance, and stakeholder interactions through readings, discussions, and presentations. This approach not only sharpens analytical skills but also deepens understanding of the challenges at the intersection of urbanization, environmental justice, and sustainability. The course culminates in a final paper that synthesizes these insights, empowering participants to propose informed and just sustainable approaches. Through this immersive experience, students are equipped to navigate and contribute to addressing complex environmental issues in urban contexts.
