This year’s conference theme, “Generation on the Edge: Environment, Democracy, Globalization, and Economics,” set the stage for his talk, “Beyond the Margins: Critical Realism for Sacrifice Zones and Environmental Justice.”

In his address, Víctor examined the intricate relationships between environmental degradation and social inequalities, employing a critical realist approach that integrated philosophical, geographical, economic, historical, and political insights. His presentation aimed to push the boundaries of traditional academic analysis and inspire actionable strategies for crafting fair and sustainable solutions.

Víctor’s perspective provided a valuable interdisciplinary framework, challenging conference attendees to consider new, equitable approaches to pressing global issues, thereby enriching the event’s discourse on environmental and social justice.
