We contributed a presentation and a session moderation to this year's AGILE conference.

The annual conference of the Association of Geographic Information Laboratories in Europe (AGILE) is one of the key events in the calendar of the European GIScience community. This year, the conference took place in Dresden under the motto ‘Geographic Information Science responding to Global Challenges’. René Westerholt represented the Spatial Modelling Lab and presented one of his latest journal articles. Published in Urban Research & Practice, the article examines the relationship between sense of place (assessed through a survey) and the shape complexity of corresponding geometric polygons (captured through sketch mapping of self-declared important places of Lisbon residents). René also moderated a spatial analysis session with five presentations on topics ranging from geostatistical interpolation, spatial regression and time geography to application scenarios such as district heating and emergency service location planning. Both the presentations and the moderated session were well attended and sparked lively discussions between participants and speakers. We are already looking forward to the next AGILE conference in 2026!
