Title: Bringing geospatial research and technologies into action

Time and venue: Tuesday, 1 July 2025, 4 pm CEST; GBIII/517

Registration via: Google Forms

Abstract:

The need for more and better data to support decision making - be it in humanitarian contexts, in logistics, in climate action, or  elsewhere - is growing faster than ever. At the same time, research  on geospatial data is advancing as well. However, though one might  think that both go together seemingly well, it is still challenging to to align respective research with practical needs and local contexts. HeiGIT bridges this gap between fundamental research and practical application. My talk will offer an overview of the services, projects,  and datasets developed and offered by HeiGIT, a University of  Heidelberg spin-off supported by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.

Speaker bio:
