René Westerholt promoted to Professor

Until now, René Westerholt has supported the Department of Spatial Planning in the position of Juniorprofessor. After completing his tenure, we are delighted to announce that he has now been appointed Professor with effect from October 2025. René joined the department in 2019 , coming from the University of Warwick. At Warwick, he worked at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies as an Assistant Professor in Urban Analytics. Prior to that, he held a five-year position as a Research Assistant (followed by a short period as postdoctoral Research Fellow) at the Institute of Geography at Heidelberg University, where he also completed his PhD in Geography. René Westerholt's academic background is in Geoinformatics, in which he obtained both his Master's and Bachelor's degrees at the Institute for Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing (now part of the Institute of Computer Science) of Osnabrück University.
