We hosted Lirrey R.K. Lin from the University of Hong Kong as a short-tem visitor to the lab.

On 21–23 June, we have welcomed Lirrey R.K. Lin, PhD student at the Department of Urban Planning and Design of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Hong Kong, as a short-term visitor to our lab. Lirrey shared his current research work as a speaker on the 'Talk-toranden Series', a series of discussion-oriented, intimate seminars for scholars at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels organised by Liudmila Slivinskaya and Víctor Cobs-Muñoz. Lirrey’s research focuses on closing the gap between ideal, normative theory and action design and implementation, drawing upon planning theory, sociology, and political philosophy. In his talk titled ‘A framework of communicative arena: the ideal deliberative scenario as a critical tool’ Lirrey discussed how a framework of a communicative arena can be implemented in a social inquiry, taking the case of urban renewal in Hong Kong as an empirical example. The talk was followed by an engaged and enriching discussion around the theme and beyond among PhD students attending, making it a great opportunity for international peer exchange. The visit continued the relations established between RAM and the Urban Analytics and Interventions Research Lab at the University of Hong Kong within a joint DAAD research project "Intercultural perspectives on experiences of space and place", executed in 2021–2022, that involved multiple exchanges between both institutions.
