A warm welcome to our new lab member, Egor Kotov!

We warmly welcome our latest addition to the team: Egor Kotov! Egor joins us from the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research and is currently finalising his PhD project (at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona), which examines the role of human mobility as a vector in the transmission of diseases. Egor is a spatial data scientist specialising in the analysis of digital trace data, which he uses to investigate mobility patterns and their impact on disease dynamics and spatial inequalities. In addition, Egor has a strong interest in methodological research and research software. With regard to the latter, he is the maintainer of the R packages ‘ducksf’ and ‘spanishoddata’ and is also an active developer of other spatial R packages. In our lab, Egor will be working on our ongoing DFG project, which focuses on understanding conceptualisations of formalisations of space as used in statistical routines. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration!
